Important All Users:  RSLogix Micro is supported on workstations running Windows Vista Business (32-bit), Windows Vista Home Basic (32-bit), Windows 2000, Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP, Windows XP SP2, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 SP1, and Windows Server 2003 R2 operating systems.

RSLogix Micro V8.10 and later require a serial number for installation. You can install the RSLogix Micro Starter Lite version without a serial number and then upgrade to the RSLogix Micro Starter or Dev version later.

Important – For the latest information regarding software platform support, refer to the Knowledgebase article 42682; http://rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/rockwellautomation.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=42682.  All Knowledgebase articles are located at http://www.rockwellautomation.com/knowledgebase/ .

Microsoft Vista Users: RSLogix Micro requires that you use RSLinx Classic v2.54 or later when running under Microsoft Vista.

RSLogix Micro only supports FactoryTalk Activation. Refer to the document titled “Activate Your Rockwell Software Products” that came in the box with your software, and is also available during installation for information on FactoryTalk Activation.

Installing RSLogix Micro:

To install RSLogix Micro 8.10, insert the CD into your CDRom drive to initiate the autorun menu.  If you are not using the autorun menu, run SETUP.EXE found on the CD in \RSLogix_En. The default install path is "C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\RSLogix Micro English". The language suffix changes for the different languages supported by RSLogix Micro. You can change the path but the "RSLogix Micro English" portion of the path is fixed and cannot be altered.

RSLogix 500 and RSLogix Micro cannot be installed on the same computer.

If you plan to install RSLogix Micro on a computer that has RSLogix 500 installed; you must uninstall RSLogix 500 and then install RSLogix Micro. Once you have installed the software you can move your existing project files to the new project directory.

If you plan to install RSLogix Micro Lite and RSLinx Classic Lite do not change the default selection for the Electronic Data Sheets during the installation. If you change the default selection for Electronic Data Sheets when you install RSLinx Classic Lite from the RSLogix Micro Lite product CD an error message will be displayed. If this happens you will need to download RSLinx Classic Lite from the update site (http://www.rockwellautomation.com/support/webupdates/ ) and then re-run the install.

Known Issues:

The following is a list of known issues at the time the software was released.

·         Under Windows Vista, the MSG instruction cannot send email through the SMTP server. To use this feature, you must use an OS other than Vista.

·         Under Windows Vista, if you have User Account Control (UAC) enabled, you may be prompted to confirm your Administrator privileges when executing certain tasks in RSLogix Micro.

·         Only one version or edition of RSLogix 500 or RSLogix Micro may be installed within a Windows OS.

·         In an ML1200 or ML1500 project, if a CLR instruction with a HSC:0.ACC or HSC:1.ACC operand exists in the rung with a nested branch (for example:BST XIC B3:0/0 CLR HSC:1.ACC NXB ADD 0 N12:1 N7:0 BND ), the project verification will fail and a complier error will be displayed.

·         Software will not allow the use of a Floating Point Constant in an SCP instruction.

·         RSLogix Micro requires a save before downloading a file that is write protected.

·         In the Histogram Save/Load feature, the Load Histogram does not function correctly.

·         ML1500 LRP Series C Channel 1 Radio modem; the broadcast message destination node 1 is not accepted when verifying the project. The error “invalid local DH485 Station Number (0-254) appears. However, 1 is a valid local DH485 station number when Channel 1 is set for DF1 Radio modem and a broadcast message is desired.

·         All the instructions in MicroLogix controllers treat integers as signed integers. Therefore, unsigned integers in PTO/PWM function file elements need to be treated carefully when they are used in the variables for instructions. An undesired result may be returned or math overflow may be detected during instruction executions. A workaround should be used such as copying PTO/PWM frequencies to a long integer before manipulation. For more information refer to Appendix F: How to use 40kHz PTO/PWM of MicroLogix 1100 Series B Controller in Publication 1763-RM001B-EN-P January 2007.

·         Change the address description in a data file, the description in Trend cannot be updated.

Caveats:

The following is a list of features and functions that are not fully implemented or non-functional at the time the software was released.

·         Do not perform Online saves with the Excel database editor (Developer only) open as it results in errors in the .RSS file

·         If you are using RSLinx to perform DDE communications with a processor and you download a project to the same processor the download may fail. If this occurs the processor loads its default program. To avoid this situation you should cease DDE communications to your target processor when you plan to download a project to the same processor.

·         The project file projectname.RSS contains all database and project related files. If you need to share a project with someone simply provide them with the projectname.RSS file and they will receive all project related information. When sharing RSLogix database information with other RSI applications, like RSView 32, you must use the Save database as external file checkbox on the File>Save As dialog to make the database file available to that application.

·         The projectname.RSS file contains both an on-line and off-line image of your project. This speeds the process of connecting to a processor. These images can get unsynchronized; this occurs if you don't save your changes when going from on-line to off-line. To synchronize the images you must download, upload or save the project while on-line.

·         RSLogix Micro prints Ladder Logic reports as graphic files.  The ladder report cannot be printed to a text file.  Other RSLogix Micro reports can be printed to a text file using the Generic/Text-only printer driver in Windows.

·         The following characters may not be used in RSLogix Micro symbols, ` ~!@#$%^&*()-+={}[]|\\:;""'<>?,./ .  If you used these characters in a previous release of RSLogix 500 the symbols will appear in your ladder views and reports. However, you cannot modify the symbol.
We recommend that you export the database to the ASCII CSV format to speed the replacement of the illegal characters in your symbols.
